Blade Runner

Blade Runner ★★★★★

Workprint.

Beyond the obvious pacing differences and unfinished shots (also color, this is a lot bluer than all of the finished cuts), the most jarring thing is watching Blade Runner with like 40% temp scores. This cut was put together before Vangelis finished scoring Tears In Rain!

Also interesting is the brief inclusion of narration. It only shows up once, after Roy Batty's last scene, but the dialogue is completely different from that same scene's narration in the theatrical cut. Plus Ford doesn't sound like he has a gun to his head. Did Ridley originally plan to have some narration regardless of studio notes? Was there originally more, or just that one scene? Did his experience butting heads w/ the studio on the theatrical sour him on putting any narration in at all in the Director's Cut and Final Cut?
