Ugh. What a mess. As the child of a transgender person, as someone who is bi, and as someone who works with LGBTQ+ youth, I feel like I’m going to be sick. Sure, I laughed a couple of times, but overall, The Closer just wasn’t funny.
He seems to think being queer is a choice and tries to redeem himself by his, “I have a token trans friend” story. Like, if he had just mentioned the ridiculous proportion of murdered black…

Such a sublime and nuanced performance by John Hurt. It might look like a Lifetime movie, but it is actually rather sweet and understated.

One week night, I was in a 7-Eleven in Copenhagen. My friend and I were mistaken for locals after we said, “Tak.” We were then addressed in perfect English and offered a beer. The very drunk, off-duty 7-Eleven employee went onto explain how … “the Danish people are so much more superior to Swedish people because the Swedes only drink on the weekend. Danes drink every night!”
That experience prepared me for Another Round.
