Dear Hideki Anno,
Congratulations on tarnishing the legacy of one of the most iconic and influential anime franchises/series of all time by making this insulting movie. You managed to make almost every character we know and love from the Evangelion franchise into a jerk and you turned a story about trying to overcome depression and hardship into nonsensical, pretentious drivel. Sure, the previous Rebuild movies were still bad and whatnot but, at least, they were not as dreadful and franchise-ruining as this one was. At this rate, I expect 3.0 + 1.0 to have Shinji and Asuka get AIDS, Rei become a stoner and psychedelic addict, Kaworu come back from the dead to rape Mari, and them all time-travelling to prevent the Second Impact from ever happening. Heck, even the presence of Asuka and Mari couldn't save this film from being as big of a cinematic failure as it was! And the worse part is that you created said iconic and influential anime franchise/series yourself. I know you regret making Evangelion but you should have at least understand why it was so highly praised and influential and got so popular in the first place. It wasn't just because of the Tiffany Grants of the world buying up all of the merchandise they can find to stuff in their Hello Kitty purses. It was because of the characters and their realistic struggles, the themes of acceptance, hope, and knowing your place in the world, and the fluid and well-animated mecha fight scenes. Well, technically, most movies are made to make cash but I feel like, at the end of the day, your "Rebuild" of Evangelion films are just giant egregious cash grabs designed to sell the hugely-popular Evangelion merchandise and targeted to those aforementioned Tiffany Grants of the world. I mean no offense to you as a person but what are you, stupid?
