I seem to have a track record of enjoying big-budget Disney reboots of odd IPs that end up failing to ignite critics nor performing commercially-well: The Lone Ranger I'll staunchly defend as a brilliant revisionist western, Tron: Legacy is a genuine blast and the perfect synthesis of retro aesthetics with a modernist concept, and even The Call of the Wild felt like a great adventure film disguised as a dog film for kids. So I really felt optimistic about John…

I truly do think Shang-Chi was the last MCU movie for me. That was sort of a perfected version of the MCU style, and I can’t imagine taking the time out of my schedule to watch anymore of these. I skipped Eternals, then skipped Doc Bizarre, and I feel like my life is better off for it. It’s a one-trick pony that’s long dead, and even the most rabid, normie-ass MCU fans are getting worn out by it.

I’m just going to assume this is the 2.5 that it most likely is

There’s a trend i've been noticing in Western consumption of rajamouli's films (specifically in white cinephile spaces), which is the hyperfixation on the spectacle of his films (which yeah obviously he's fucking great at), The "I wiSh HoLlyWooD Did SoMeThIng As BoNkErs As This" sentiment (and frankly condescension) irks me quite a bit because it feels like so many of y'all gawk at and exoticize his cinema, instead of taking it in good-faith

that is to say, RRR is probably…

Well everyone it took them two years but Rajamouli’s follow up to the behemoth that is Baahubali, a film series which I admittedly like more than really love, has finally seen the light of day. Though there still is a lot of Telugu film that I have yet to be acquainted with, I did spend a good chunk of the pandemic watching ntr and ram charan song sequences so the excitement of seeing these two particular stars in one movie…

Gay Pride and Prejudice is a good start, but let’s keep this going, gay Portrait of a Lady (real idea I’ve had), gay L’avventura (this movie could have easily been that), gay Claire’s Knee…the possibilities are endless.

More seriously, one hopes that this movie will do well rough, more gay people get to make more openly gay movies and they can start to feel less like they need to preempt various tweets in the screenplay, then again plenty of non-gay movies do this too. Plenty of people are like this, what ya gonna do.

Bowen Yang might be the funniest person on the planet rn.
