"a weakness in cartography - the curse of the homosexual"

i honestly adored every single second. wes anderson at his most wes anderson, truly firing on all cylinders to give an experience that captures everything i love about his movies, taken to a whole new level.

the whole movie is visually delicious, with all of the impeccable little details that you find in all of wes's movies, with excellent use of both b&w and colour, miniatures, stop motion and even…

as far as i'm concerned this movie does a spectacular job of pulling together everything that the daniel craig era of the james bond franchise has been about. it feels like a fitting end of a 15-year era - it's stylish, moody and visceral just like the four movies that come before it, and referential in a lot of interesting ways but it manages to stick the landing by really exposing the core of who james is emotionally in a…

really big "that's a spicy meatball" energy from everyone here. moments of transcendent camp that are nowhere near enough to to carry the sheer volume of stuff that's crammed in here, so ultimately feels bloated, unfocused and completely scrambled.

    holy fuck.

there's an 8 minute sequence in the middle of this movie where godzilla lays waste to an entire chunk of tokyo which had me sitting completely still, eyes and mouth wide open in shock. i don't think i've ever seen large scale destruction look so impressively, terrifyingly realistic in another movie.

in general, the movie does an amazing job of balancing scenes of unbelievable destruction with long, drawn out scenes of bureaucratic back and forth over who takes…
