    Malignant

I am the Malignant viewer who began the film with confusion. Why is James Wan pushing all too familiar horror tropes but not doing anything too creative with them? Why do I feel like I'm watching the cut scene to a zombie survival video game? Hell is breaking loose at the mental asylum, what inventory will my character receive to battle the demons?

Pretty soon I relaxed. I remembered a master of the craft has the wheel. James Wan is…

Basket Case is oh so special to me. Deeply deeply personal. It is all connected to my ulcerative colitis. I would like to share why. Heads up, I am going to be graphic.

My colitis developed in high school, at a time in my life where I already had plenty of challenges. Girls, SATs, independence from my parents . You know the drill. Colitis comes along junior year and adds to the party. It chains me to the toilet night…

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers

Halloween 5 is my least favorite so far. But it's entertaining. All the new characters are pretty boring, and you know who's gonna die right away, but the experience is definitely enjoyable. I particularly enjoy the Halloween party scenes and the way Othenin-Girard directs. He captures the messy claustrophobic vibe those parties can have. Hopefully most parties don't have a laconic serial killer hiding in the barn.

The crew behind the fifth Halloween installment experiment and give Mike a little…

Damn, boi! I am pleased to expand my knowledge of Japanese cinema beyond Kurosawa. I love the man, but it is good to know there is more out there. Kuroneko, related to Kurosawa's Rashomon story, is a visual and spooky delight. It is one of those movies that makes you go, they did THIS is 1968? How??

The eeriness reminds me somewhat of Throne of Blood. The lighting and integration of the kabuki theatre style is like nothing I have…

This infamous anti-piracy ad is on my mind heavily after completing my Minority Report rewatch. Both have such a similar vibe. The anti piracy trailer footage is not bleach bypassed like Minority Report is, but the film noir vibes match. I see that trailer and I picture Minority Report. Fight Club. Se7en. Basically any 90s…

Luca is a generational talent. Pristine court vision, high basketball IQ, and a leader on and off the court. At only 22 years of age, he is only beginning to show the world what he can do.

Uhhhhh wait sorry guys wrong Luka.
