I wish the whole movie is about Gordy the Chimp, tbh. That was far more interesting than the alien stuff, in my opinion. If we're viewing Get Out, Us, and this as a trilogy, then NOPE is certainly Peele's Spider-Man 3. What should have been a great concept not carried out effectively.

What Works ✅: The tension, the pacing, the camerawork, the world building of that corny amusement park all made it really engrossing and fun.I loved the monkey scene, I…

Hopefully this leads to more great roles for Fraser. Make another Mummy movie you cowards! Call Weisz and get the whole gang back together! It’s wonderful to see him get this chance despite everything he’s gone through.

Brendan Fraser’s transformative turn is really incredible. Shout out to Hong Chau who's performance really stays with you.

    This broke my heart.

What Works ✅: A beautifully melancholy yet comedic tragedy, The Banshees of Inisherin represents Martin McDonagh at his best. A deceptively simple plot (a friendship crumbles between two men) is compellingly layered as presented here. McDonagh really says a lot about loneliness, both from physical isolation (the remote isle of Inisherin) and a sudden lack of companionship. I was struck by how moving and subtly tragic the film was without losing its darkly funny edge.

Like an onion, you peel this movie back layer by layer.

What Works ✅: Benoit Blanc is becoming a modern classic character before our very eyes. I will watch as many of these movies as long as Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig want to keep making them. I think Craig is such a good fit for this role, he really does bring a lot of charisma and humor to it that works so well. Doesn’t top the original but what…

They should show them as a double feature and serve everyone a continental breakfast.

A whodunnit movie that succeeds in being boring

What Works ✅: Gorgeous scenery and costumes every frame a masterpiece of visual coordination, color and transcendence. Emmanuel Lubezki is always a reliable cinematographer, and does a gorgeous job. Margot Robbie is delightful stealing most of the scenes she’s in with some physical comedy. John David Washington is fine, but struggles with memorable material.

Shout out to Michael Shanon and Mike Myers, who are underused, but play off each other well. Christian…
