Shane McAvoy’s review published on Letterboxd:
A lot to like here. The cinematography and editing are excellent. The cast is uniformly great. Jenna Ortega has such a good scream. It’s a good scream. It’s a good scream. There’s some really cool gore. Most modern slashers are not this well made and it rocks that a movie with this much sex and violence is getting a wide release. Was totally onboard for the first hour.
But man, Ti West has just never had a good third act. All of the reveals are just… that’s it? Eh. It’s all a little too stupid for me. The final line of the movie is such a calling your shot moment and it lands with a thud. I think this just might be my masterpiece rules because it’s preceded by a movie as good as Inglorious Basterds.
