Not much to say here. Another case of misguided excitement on my part I suppose.

Aparicio gives an at times great debut performance, at least when the movie gets out of her way. Mostly felt nothing with only a few moments that really hit hard.

Kind of baffled that everyone is freaking out over how beautiful the cinematography is? I'm as much of a sucker for Black and White as the next person but when the camera just swivels around and does little else, I get bored. It's almost as if Cuarón listened to everyone who loved the rotating camera in the car in Children of Men and decided to do that here. Over and over and over again. 

But I will say that ROMA has one image, maybe two, that is more disturbing than ANYTHING I saw in House That Jack Built. So there's that.
