when i was studying pride & prejudice in school, my english teacher warned us to never watch the 2005 version as a supplement for reading the book. and she was kinda right!! but also, this movie slaps!!
there is something very youthful about this adaptation that's hard to put my finger on, other than i was like! i miss being young! i miss having crushes and a sworn nemesis, and the drama of being young! it's full of so much repressed regency romance, it's almost comical. but also? it's just really funny, to the point that I'm starting to think austen purists who vocally hate this film maybe just don't have a sense of humour.
