The Purge: Anarchy ★★

PURGE-A-THON #2

Beers so far: 5 or 6

This one was even trashier than the first. So far I'm finding myself much more interested in the mythology of these movies that the movies themselves, almost like it would work better as a comic or something. This felt like classic B-movie stuff: paper-thin stock characters, goofy plot, contrived action. The best parts were the secret society of rich people and the idea of a resistance using the Purge to fight the Purge. Any semblance of actual pointed satire seems to have gone out the window. Frank Grillo rules and is the only standout from the cast. I didn't expect this to be as good as the first, but even with those expectations it was disappointing.
