Everything Everywhere All at Once

Everything Everywhere All at Once ★★★★½

This is one of the best films I've ever given a 9/10 score too. In fact, it might be the single best of em. A daring, hopeful work which comes with some of the most life-affirming, entertaining, explosive, and heartfelt moments in the history of cinema. I am in awe, of how a filmmaker can come up with, and then create such a film, with perfect invisible cuts. perfect visuals, perfect inception, and perfect execution while never once feeling bland from an emotional or thematic standpoint. It's about exactly what the title suggests; everything. The film tells you that everything matters. In every little moment. every seemingly insignificant action that you find yourself in, matters. Every little thing, whether it be a moment in time, or even just yourself, has a special place in the world. The nihilistic side is never correct; because there is always something to treasure and there's always something that matters. The cinematography is stunning, every frame has meaning and unbelievable beauty. The entertainment factor reaches dangerous, all-time levels of immersiveness and engagement. Michelle Yeo, Stephanie Hsu (apart from some questionable moments), Jamie Lee Curtis, and just the entire cast is fantastic. Every line is delivered with authenticity and a fitting tone. The creativity aspect is absolutely mind-blowing, the way the film was concieved and adapted just seems impossible to me, but somehow, someway, the Daniels pull it off in a stylish fashion. The soundtrack is fantastic and each plot beat and throb goes along with the energetic and unique tone of the music and framing. I felt a bit lost in some places but overall, everything comes together perfectly, in ways that no one could have imagined. This is not only the best film of the decade so far, but undoubtedly lands in a list of films I'd call 'masterpieces,' and if you know me, you know that doesn't happen very often. An unbelievable, insane, and genuine masterpiece of hope and heart, passing all marks, expectations, and hype, in every universe there is and ever was.
