Road to My End of the Decade List - Movie #96
In a way, I'm speechless, though that may imply that I'm more blown away than I actually am. It is slightly disappointing I suppose, but that is largely due to my high expectations. I will certainly be rewatching it soon and it will certainly improve with each watch. Even now, though, I really adored this film. It is slow but entirely captivating. It is light on plot but it never feels empty. It is a film that is focused on subtleties and details - they fill every corner with depth and resonance. It's overflowing with evocative imagery, moving performances, and powerful scenes. There are a few moments in particular that left me in pure awe. It feels wholly beautiful and unique in both premise and approach, making for one of the best films of the year and one that, once I see it again, will convince me even more of that sentiment.
