It’s so silly and so unabashedly over the top that it becomes something of a spectacle to behold. I appreciated watching a superhero movie that isn’t tainted by Whedonesque corny back-and-forth dialogue and audience-winking. Sure, there are plot holes, the flash is annoying, Gal Gadot isn’t a great actress, and maybe there is just a little too much slow mo, but I think this film is greater than the sum of its parts. It really hammers home the idea that these heroes are gods among men and Snyder does what he can to make it feel more like a myth rather than a standard superhero movie. Is it one of my favorite movies of all time? No, not by a mile, but it’s incredibly entertaining and far better than anything the MCU has made.
