Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ★★★★

"the world only makes sense if you force it to."

a movie that intentionally or not genuinely follows through on the inherent ugliness and fascism of batman and the complicated moral relationship between the american image (superman) and the horrifying actions around the globe committed by the state. snyder takes his genre deconstructionist interest in the ethics of power and the mythic, godlike alienation of the superhuman and deforms them even further with political violence and corporate privatization; placing two american icons into an unpleasant, expressionist, cartoon nightmare world brought on us by the country's institutional corruption and disastrous foreign policy. one of the most strange and sadistic and as a result honest depictions of what american superheroism would look like. superman destroys a drone, batman quotes dick cheney. of course people hated this.
