Dern Is Afraid

i give it 5 stars though i did think it was a wee bit long. but GOTTAM WHAT A RIDE!!!! the first couple scenes alone deserve to be put into the smithsonian. And any time you start to go, do we really need this scene? the movie hits you with a scene that blows your mind! i’m just really impressed with keanu and the whole creative team on this one. lots of thoughts but the main takeaway is good job by everyone involved. the fact that this movie exists means cinema is alive and well.

first half was really intriguing and really enjoyed the second half when it got all wonky and goofy, just missed the mark a little in terms of tone. never really felt anything. performances were great though.

just nice to get back to the basics every once in a while. boobs and crime. imagine what movies would be like these days if porn wasn’t readily available. we’d all be watching Basic Instinct (the reboot of the remake) but this time Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone reprise their roles.

I remember as a kid i would watch Robocop 2 all the time, but never watched the original which feels like a wild thing that only 90s kids did. Sequels were always the ones i loved because they were bigger and dumber and i was small and dumb. all this to say, can’t wait to watch robocop 2 again after watching this absolute masterpiece. didn’t shed one tear during this movie.

this really hit on my third rewatch. cried for mostly the last 30 minutes. the best of the stories of toys.

good flick, not enough plane for a movie called plane imho. didn’t cry once.

Loved it except for the part where he talks with the bully about how he made him look like a hero. bawled my eyes out when he talks with his mom at the end. full on catharsis.

Need to watch again, because i didn’t really connect with it, but everyone keeps on telling me i’m wrong. not a single tear.
