There may not be a whole lot of story here but this is easily the most humane, intensely beautiful and character driven film in the MCU. I love it more and more with every viewing because there’s just something so special about a franchise movie that doesn’t stick to a formula and is instead handled by a person who wholeheartedly adores the characters they’re bringing to life; Peter Jackson with LOTR, Snyder with Watchmen/Man of Steel, Gunn with Guardians. Love, love, love the amount of heart James puts into these films, he breathes life into this otherwise increasingly dull franchise and it’s something the MCU could definitely use a lot more of. So glad he’s coming back to complete his trilogy.
