Evil Dead II is the rare occasion where you get to remake your own film with 10x the budget, luckily Sam Raimi spent that all on fake blood in this outrageous retelling/sequel.
Where the first Evil Dead aims to unsettle, this second embraces the insanity and distinct personality by pushing everything to its extremes, including Bruce Campbell's performance as Ash. The collaboration between Campbell and Raimi is what cemented this film as the cult classic that it's become.
There's a unique charm to the way the camera flies through every scene and the cheeky self-awareness that consistently screams in your face.
It's scary, it's hilarious - there's nothing quite like Evil Dead II.
