Matt White’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie neglects three key factors in education:
1. Our country refuses to address the problem of poverty. For some reason, we just expect schools to fix that.
2. Teacher pay is obscene relative to the importance of the job. If you want the best teachers to stay in the classroom, you have to be willing to pay more taxes to fund those salaries.
3. Charter schools get to pick and choose who stays in their school. If a student is not succeeding or is disrupting the school, a charter school just kicks that student out, and the public school in the area must accept him/her.
Conveniently, none of these were mentioned.
