Ben Kaye’s review published on Letterboxd:
SUNDANCE 2021 - FILM #6
as remarkable a "mainstream" feature-film version of the story of Fred Hampton and the Panthers you're gonna get. even within its hollywood conventional framework (what would a Panther film with a style and a structure as revolutionary as its messaging look like, one wonders), you still get some stunning imagery, some remarkably complex writing, that SCORE that SCORE that SCORE, and of course the politics of the Panthers coming through with rarely a hint of dilution for mainstream sensibilities.
Shaka King deserves all the blank checks in the world.
magnificent performances all around, but this is Daniel Kaluuya's picture through and through. i love him so much.
