You can sense the freedom experienced by Varda with the advent of digital camera in this. A freedom to go anywhere quickly, shoot personal images as an extension of her diving eye.
And reactive to the people she so empathetically uncovers for the viewer.
A social commentary but yet another insight into the human condition, Varda says a lot without forcing her viewpoints on her subjects or audience.

There is a joy that flows from this, a joy of cinema and art and of tweaking the audience’s nodes as only Varda can, with love and respect.
A celebration of what came before, Mr Cinema IS cinema at 100, warts and all.
    Imaginative, informative, funny and entertaining.

    Poor.
    Characters, action, ideas.
What could have been a great addition becomes a cash cow of the franchise.
Frankly, I'm glad many Bothans died retrieving those plans...

    Martha Marcy May Marlene

    ★★★★

Engrossing depiction of a cultist escapee coming to terms with her experiences.
The camera really sets the tone with painstakingly slow tracking shots, while the fractured nature of the narrative reflects Olsen’s state of mind.
Great performance from Olsen, with a lot left unsaid.
    A moving experience.
