Portrait of a Lady on Fire

Portrait of a Lady on Fire ★★★★★

This film is about beauty, false choices and the truth. Truth, as the opposite of ephemeral.

This is an updating of Orpheus’ false and randomly costly choice and I know this because they say so in the film.

The setting is 250 years ago but the story will be relevant as long as people are denied their dreams.

The typical Western scathing critique of arranged chattel marriages is extended to include the lie of all heteronormative culture.

This film is a reminder to the oppressed and those fighting for them: the truth isn't fleeting.

The truth outlives the oppression.

The truth, the love, the joy, the beauty -- is forever.
