had some cheap mezcal last night and a brain crushing headache is the 2nd most painful experience i had this morning.
Seeing how well received this film is made me rethink my reaction to the movie to make sure it wasn't just the hangover talking.
I don't have a problem with the film being silly and cartoony and modern vibe-y whatever.
But it's an ongoing drag that the only "feminism" that's portrayed in big movies is the "fierce grrrl" thing - which serves them, they can leverage Lean In Fierce to the corporate bottom line. Talk of equal pay/promotions/reviews, family leave, all male boards, clubhouses, sexism everywhere, etc. are never broached because that doesn't serve them.
And it's just toxic to portray evil capitalism as a Bad Apple problem and not completely systemic. Like there's some version of capitalism that doesn't have to exploit everybody it touches.
