German born-cinematographer Erwin Hiller caught the eye of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger when he shot 1943's THE SILVER FLEET and he went on to shoot two of their most beloved films: A CANTERBURY TALE and I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING!, which both benefited from his skill with black and white photography. His partnership with the Archers ended after those two films but Hiller continued to be a great artist in British Cinema.
