When I was a kid, I loved this movie because I wasn't old enough to be watching it. I had no idea of the tropes it was breaking because I was 10, and I wasn't really allowed to watch horror movies. Now, it's been satirized and parodied to the point that I find myself not able to enjoy it as much as I used to. Sure, it broke the mold, and I can appreciate that now more than ever, but I can't help feeling like the impact of this movie has been hindered by its jolt to mainstream culture. I still enjoy the movie and find it very entertaining, but I know I can't appreciate it like I should.
