    (watched this last night) really love the texture and atmosphere of the images. not much else to really chew on here; some pretty decent plane combat sequences but id honestly rather luxuriate in some of the moments inbetween. there’s other elements here for the real heads, like all the bizarro Brechtian performances or the sense of composition (presumably) director Scott brings. there’s also a strange Classicalism to this film that i really wasn’t expecting

    kind of wish schrader did more formal experiments like this and mishima (i suppose dark counts). sickly in a perfect way, perfectly reflects how addiction often makes one cold and distant to the object of their desires

    david ehrlich is such a baby this movie is dope. the loose impressionistic narrative is heightened by the constant use of close up and zoom which makes us really feel ethan hawke’s isolation. im not sure what thematically is going on here which i think is the point; meaning and space and time are literally fragmented in the face of the more emotional and even romantic elements ferrara imbues all the heady genre stuff with. goes even further than obvious point of comparison michael mann
