Cinematic Underdogs’s review published on Letterboxd:
Exploring the art of functional micro-dosing—Scandinavian-style—Another Round substitutes ethical compliance with a phenomenological approach to life: its middle-aged quartet ardently relying upon reflexive subjective experience and heuristic biometrics as the grounds for attaining a more immediate and individuated strand of ‘scientific’ truth.
Albeit a precarious experiment and not for the feint of heart or mind, I’m sure devout existentialists—like Søren Kierkegaard, the Danish philosopher cited multiple times in the film—are saluting cheers to Vinterburg from wherever they are. It is just so supremely satisfying to see a group of ordinary schlubs quaffing life’s libations—metaphorically and in the raw— with intellectual curiosity and studious mettle.
And hot damn: that triumphant, terpsichorean ending—what an absolute reaffirmation of this bittersweet life!
