Everything Everywhere All at Once

I wish I liked this as much as everyone else but it’s so dumb lmao I just can’t wrap my head around how this is so popular. To start, I hate the attempts at comedy because it’s not 2014 so I don’t find lol xd random ratatouille penis hand jokes particularly funny and it just ruined the already messy film even further. It tries so hard to be a weird avant-garde whathaveyou kind of film up there with the other notoriously weird movies like Inland Empire or Persona or something like that. But the thing is, those movies are actually meaningful and just happen to be weird as fuck, while EEAAO tries too hard to be weird as fuck and fails at the actually important part of moviemaking, leading to my other complaint: any “meaning” the film does try to convey is just fucking stupid, with all due respect. I’m so tired of the wannabe deep nihilist we all live on a giant floating rock in space nothing matters thing. It just feels like a dumb cop out at this point like oh bad thing occur in life? That’s ok nothing matters because we can just invent a new universe! But it’s a dumb overdone philosophy that’s usually outgrown by the time one receives a high budget movie deal, but not for these guys I guess! This whole film feels like A24 gave millions of dollars to a couple 14 year olds who just found out about Stirner and Nietzsche and decided to make a movie about it that somehow became A24’s highest grossing ever with almost entirely rave reviews and one of the highest average ratings on this entire platform for some reason that I truly cannot grasp.

Positives:
-Michelle Yeoh doesn’t miss
-The 0.5 second twin peaks reference
