Amsterdamned 1988
This movie is really fun. Dick Maas clearly had a blast making this. It’s a sorta half slasher/half 80s cop film about a scuba-suit wearing madman terrorizing the canals of Amsterdam.
The film has great pacing. I really enjoyed the murky, 80s grain aesthetics of it. And there’s great speed boat chase at the end. Definitely worth checking out, and it’s streaming on Shudder.

The Name of the Rose 1986
This movie was 2 things; boring and gross.
I didn’t hate it. I’m very interested in historical period pieces and I like a cast of 80s character actors. But this thing had some weird vibes going on the whole time and almost put me to sleep.

Yellow Springs is a strange place. I’ve lived about 20 minutes away from it my entire life, and while it can make for an enjoyable afternoon, a lot of the people who live there are very difficult to be around.
