🎵Women cannot read, Women cannot read!!🎵

To all my Theater people out there, I feel you. This activated war flashbacks of when I used to be in a theater camp full of divas. I felt like Devon (Donovan Colan) in every situation. I was just a kid who liked singing and acting. I wasn't the best around but, the stage comforted me.

"Theater Camp" is an mockumentary about a theater camp who is putting together a musical about…

    Sundance 2023

Fair Play is what I thought Deep Water was going to be. A slick sexy erotic thriller with heavy power dynamics. Luke (Alden Ehrenreich) and Emily (Phoebe Dynevor) are a couple who are co-workers. Nobody knows they are dating and from the beginning, they want to marry each other. Unfortunately, the evils of male fragility and the gaslighting is what it takes to someone’s mind. Without spoiling anything, it gets hectic and loud for the entire film. And…

Lord forgive me, I was on my bullshit back in 2019.

Everyone was saying that, this was the lesbian answer to "Call Me By Your Name" and my anticipation was a bit soured on first watch. But now in 2023, I get it. Céline Sciamma's sweeping romance deserves a seat at the Gay table. Noémie Merlant and Adèle Haenel together have created a aching hole in my chest. Their romance is undeniably raw and you can't take your eyes off…

    Green Fish

A clear indicator of Lee Chang Dong's further progression into complex moralities. "Green Fish" is a bit of a mess once the romance and gang activities start. It's kinda like a broke version of "Fallen Angels" and a bit of Scorsese. But honestly, you can't deny the greatness of "The Dong". He has evolved over the years and I still think "Burning' and "Secret Sunshine" are his masterpieces. It's also great to see a young Song Kang-ho in this.

So let me get this straight.

The actual history behind the Dahomey Tribe stems from them owning slaves. In a media literacy sense, you have to understand the repercussions of portraying these people as the “heroes” of the story. Hollywood has always entertained the idea of “Based on A True Story”. So why is it now controversial to make a Hollywood adaptation of this tribe? Well. Most of the controversial discourse lies beneath the racism and misogyny of the alt-right…

To open your film with an unsimulated sex scene is incredibly bold and insane. Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn recently won the Golden Bear at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival. I’m not entirely familiar with this director’s work nor the Romanian New Wave movement. This was a wild ride to uncover. The first part of the film is about a teacher who is caught up with a sex tape scandal. We follow her through the streets of Bucharest,…
