Capturing the brilliance that is Charles Chaplin.

Charlie Chaplin is not an easy person to just do a biography on. An iconic figure whose work is the stuff of legend. It’s hard to translate such a person to a believable story featuring likewise performances. For anyone who has seen Richard Attenborough’s dignified Gandhi it does not seem like he would be a bad choice to lend his gravitas to this material. It works out exactly like that as Attenborough and…

"I'm going to see a man about a play."

The ups and (mostly) downs of aspiring actor Sam Lawson (Franciosa) make for a great film, at times a little melodramatic but that doesn't bother me, that spans a lot of years, as we see him struggling to get by. One of the key people in his life is theatrical director Maury Novak (Martin) with whom he develops a difficult but enduring relationship.

Franciosa is excellent as the go for broke…

Another entry in the Martin & Lewis films, and it still doesn’t really make me go crazy about them. Obviously way too old Dean plays a college kid helping (well, encouraged via a scholarship....) the klutzy Lewis through to a wannabe athletic career and of course shenanigans are the result. Love me some Dean, not there yet with regards to Jerry.

John Ford x John Wayne. Western. Plus William Holden. It’s not even about the story with these anymore - well for me anyway. They’re an overall feel, an experience. It’s pretty well known around these parts I like a western fine, but John Wayne and John Ford pairing up just puts it near the top instantly.

This one is actually set in the Civil War, and kinda pits Wayne against Holden in terms of handling the action at hand. And…

There is no chance I am able to write an objective review after having seen a Robin Williams film now, but who cares about objectivity at a time like this.

Minor spoilage included, proceed at your own risk.

I have consciously avoided What Dreams May Come since its theatrical run,but I felt like this was as good a time as any as the sad plot might prove to be something of a cathartic experience for me. The story of doctor…

It's probably good David Fincher made Alien 3 if only to confirm the fact that he is human after all.

I am not quite sure what to say about Gone Girl other than pretty much acknowledging nay pledging my adulation for it right here. I want to say this isn't a perfect film, but I can't find any fault with it. From stars Ben Affleck - I never hated him, but after this i don't see why anyone still would…
