Alternated between laughing at the terrible dialogue and acting and sincerely enjoying the legitimately awesome action sequences but either way I consistently had fun.

Enys Men 2022
Took a while to really gel for me even though I did enjoy the music, cinematography, sound design and overall atmosphere quite a bit but once I got to the climax everything kind of clicked and the movie began to make sense emotionally if not logically. Definitely for fans of seventies British folk horror as well as recent abstract and experimental takes on the horror genre (i.e. Skinamarink).

Malignant 2021
A goofy but highly entertaining throwback to the VHS era of horror bringing to mind Argento, Fulci, Gordon and even a bit of Cronenberg while still having some more modern elements as well. The first hour or so is entertaining enough but it's definitely worth it for the absolutely bonkers last 30 minutes alone. It's ridiculous and absurd and definitely suffers from some clunky dialogue and acting in places but much like the eighties schlock it's emulating, if you buy into the absurdity and are able to look passed it's shortcomings, you're in for a very fun time.
