This viewing was a long time coming for me to say the least, please bear with me as I ramble about my journey. Going back to the beginning, I remember seeing the preview for Spirited Away, Kiki's, and The Cat Returns on my VHS tapes as a kid and being intrigued by the magic on screen. Further on I saw Ponyo and Arietty in the theater which lead me to borrowing Totoro and Nausicaa from the local library, which is…

Bill & Ted Face the Music 2020
The original Bill & Ted is one of my 2 most watched movies ever, I absolutely adored it as a kid with its historical references and witty humor (even if I couldn’t grasp every detail). There’s something so joyous about watching Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on-screen being goofs and constantly doing air guitars.
The second Bill & Ted took a wildly different turn as the pair found themselves on a truly bogus journey and a date with death. The sequel is…

Fast X 2023
As someone who thinks the movies have progressively gotten worse since the highs of 5 and 6, for some reason this one worked for me. I’ve hated the past 2 movies but this one felt a mix of the best elements from those middle of the franchise entries with the absurdity/humor of the more recent installments.
I know this is gonna be a contrarian opinion - maybe I could go into some more nuisance on my thoughts in a later…

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift 2006
Best ending to a franchise movie ever, so hype.
Also Christopher Nolans apparently rides for this one. I love how people either consider this to be the worst or near the top of the series. So polarizing but I think Justin Lin was really onto something with Tokyo Drift, which the producers of the franchise obviously thought the same thing as he was given the reins. It'd be nice for F&F to go back to more grounded stories like this once the main-line movies eventually conclude. Need more Japanese street-racing in my life (though I suppose I have the many episodes of Initial D for that)

Turning Red 2022
Not only some of the best animation I’ve ever seen, but loved the distinct aesthetic. The story felt very Ghibli-esque, could totally see the studio crafting this movie in an alternative timeline.
Early 2000’s nostalgia is now in effect according to the 20 year cycle rule? I’m all for it..
The Billie Eilish/Finneas soundtrack was a perfect homage to the days of NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, could have easily fooled me if you said the music came out in the aughts. Biggest surprise of the movie for me

The Seventh Seal 1957
Weird prequel to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, hopefully Bill & Ted 3 is a proper return to formula for the series. Complexing decision to leave Keanu Reeves out of this one..
