Threads is one of the most misanthropic, depressing, and despair filled movies of all time. Expect a realistic, gritty, post-nuclear cautionary tale that only serves to say what it wants to and reinforces it's message with a never-ending spiral of bad to worse.

Drink for every found footage trope that originated from this film.
It definitely has it's failures, though that doesn't subtract from the movie that brought us found footage horror. The setting is perfectly eerie, the lead family feels convincing in their relationships (maybe not so much their interactions), and the aliens are just fleshed out enough to give you a good sense of how powerful they are without revealing too much.
