9 years since my last viewing of the H4 and H5 double feature, and I’m surprised to have had the exact opposite reaction.
Last time I thought 4 was safe, serious and cliche,
and 5 was weird and unpredictable.
Now 4 was pleasantly slick and all of the set-pieces were perfectly paced, and 5 was…
well, still weird and unpredictable, but in an obnoxious, weightless sort of way.
I guess that’s actually the same basic take, it just hits different this time. Lesson learned? Either I am now old and boring (no way!) or I think a better idea: re-watch all horror movies at least every 9 years.
