Please, I beg you, go see this film at the cinema if at all possible and preferably with the best sound system available because this may be the best sound design I have ever heard. It was also the most visually stunning black and white film I have seen since Andrei Rublev (my 11th favorite film). It also shares with that film a meditative episodic journey where much is happening around a central figure who is often ignored yet becomes more and more riveting as the film progresses.
Cuaron has long been one of my favorite directors, but this feels like he took out his vulnerable beating heart and gave it to us.
