This was such a refreshing watch. It was just so awesome to see a buncha black women kick major ass in an historical epic without being bogged down by painfully obvious “girl power” moments or an abundance of CGI. The characters struggles were just as interesting as the warfare - which I might add was directed perfectly with excellent geography. I was never lost and always knew where I was in the chaos.
The cast is bangin, with Viola Davis being amazing as usual and Lashana Lynch stealing the show for me. The plot has some interesting developments as the movie goes on. I really can’t think of any major faults. I’m just so happy this exists and I got to see it in a theater. It’s such a crowd pleaser - my theater was really engaged and you could feel the electricity during certain scenes. Can’t recommend this enough!
