Will Klein’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was absolutely bonkers, but I kinda dug it. Like most of the Wachowski's movies, this takes a hundred swings and hits the ball like half the time. Half of this movie really worked. The effects and production design are gorgeous to look at and very functional. I'm a slut for spaceships and the ship design here is so cool. This is a weird world, but you get a good sense of all the factions through the way they dress and the worlds they inhabit. It's very imaginative and unique, while also keeping that familiar fairy-tale-like story.
The performances are a little hit-or-miss, but even when they miss you get Eddie Redmayne whisper-yelling so I can't really complain that much. I was pleasantly surprised and can even see this moving up a few notches upon a rewatch.
