So I turned on the audio commentary version of this kinda by accident, but kept watching as I hadnβt heard it before. Donβt think Iβve ever listened to an entire commentary, but this movie has a truly special place in my heart.
Thereβs probably no other film that Iβve seen as many times as this one. It came out when I was 8 years old, right about when I was transitioning from cartoons to more grown up stuff, so itβ¦
As years go by, they keep wearing down and rebuilding their armor against each other, skipping around between various love interests, until they suddenly one day wake up to realize there was never any other love meant to be but the one between each other.
Like me and the My Little Pony cartoons.
Maybe it's time I start reconciling with the fact that I will keep watching these soul-sucking mass-produced low-life sloppy shit films for all eternity. They will never be good again (like they actually were back in the 90s), but rather like a plague that the world will never find a cure for.
The thing is, these are kinda the only movies my Mrs. watches (she's more of a tv series lady). So whenever she asks if I want to seeβ¦
On a trippyness scale from one to ten, this one is 14,000,605. Itβs an insane mix of super hero action, humor and Sam Raimiβs finest horror. And on top of that a bunch of cameos and twists that made me wanna scream out my loudest insanity scream (which of course I didnβt, only idiots scream in movie theaters).Β
Throwing in an extra half star for the musical fight. That was freaking beautiful, and any film with a regular boring fist fight will have half a star deducted to compensate, starting now.
Considering how much I love the other Edgar Wright films I HAVE seen, itβs a fucking disgrace that I hadnβt watched Β this one until now.Β
Not his best (that would be Scott Pilgrim), but a super fucking solid piece of movie. So many good details and choices in this.
Iβll probably spend the entire weekend catching up on his filmography now. See you on the other side.
