Letterboxd Season Challenge Week #6 - South American Cinema

Absolutely incredible movie. It’s lazy and probably not fair to compare it to other things, but I’m going to do it anyway and say that this reminded a lot of “The Wire” in showing the cyclical nature of things and how impossible it is to escape from a situation or fix a broken system. Obviously this is much more cinematic  with some incredible sequences (the strobe lights at Benny’s party stood out).  Even though the cast was largely made up of nonprofessionals I thought that the acting was great.  Lil Z is one of the best villains I’ve seen in a long time.  Overall all this is something I would highly recommend for anybody, with the caveat that it is extremely dark and deeply fucked up at parts, so it may not be for the faint of heart.
