Oh man, I have a lot of thoughts on this one. Suffices to say that Schrader is revisiting many of the same themes as he did in First Reformed, chief among them, how do you live your life as a moral man, much less a decent one, while knowing that your life is built on a great crime.

For Ethan Hawke’s Ernst Toller, the crime is humanity’s degradation of the earth, and the conflict concerns his willingness to do something…

An egomaniac ventures abroad convinced that he can remake the world and that he wants to do so for noble reasons. He accomplishes nothing, gets scores of those who trusted him killed, commits some war crimes, and returns home consumed with self-loathing and the very same longing for purpose and meaning that pulled him away in the first place. Dated and irrelevant, obviously.

Only 4 other people were in theater when I saw this, and 3 of them walked out within the first 20 minutes. That's sad, because this is a movie I wish more people would see.

Yes, it's over the top, exploitation-esque, extreme, unrealistic, and even cartoony in some ways. Yes there were some issues in the editing and structure of the story and the use of the characters, and the first act was too long and the closing act was…

I didn't even have a strong desire to see this but I enjoyed it honestly pretty solid. I am so happy for the directions pixar is taking with its politics. Oh yeah and I can't believe you showed up in a Volkswagen bug, adorned with a single bumper sticker, to watch it with me.

Ok but for real elastigirls butt is heckin thicc. Im jealous.

    My beloved
    My beloved
    Where have you gone
I can still hear your song

    A pistol to my ear
The cold metal to my lobe
    Not yours
    Is all I could bear

    My beloved
    My beloved
    At midnight come see me
    Hold me near
