Ryan Stokes’s review published on Letterboxd:
Unpopular opinion, this movie was too long for the plot that it had. Definitely better than the original, but I couldn’t help thinking throughout the movie that it was overproduced. What I mean by that is that every single scene has that “epic” quality to it, which is actually quite cool most of the time. Epic fights, epic deaths, epic story-telling. But to me that’s all that it was, an epic 4 hour long roller coaster ride, with some quiet scenes spread out throughout the movie, mainly with Superman, that i felt were almost too drawn out. I would definitely recommend this movie for superhero lovers though, it’s a must see especially with how much hype was behind it. Despite not absolutely loving it, I think it’s going to be a piece of cinematic history and may actually change the game with Hollywood doing similar things with other older movies, for better or worse.
Edit: also what’s up with Amber Heard NOT being cut from this movie??
