This is absurd and it's exactly what I look for. Incredible cinematography too.
The soundtrack is constant "whimsical" noise which feels like it will never stop.
The acting is fine. I mean it's Anya Taylor Joy and Bill Nighy.
The comedy is forced yet also non existent. The only reason this absolute wank isn't getting an entire star is because it's incredibly nice to look at. Impeccable costumes/makeup/sets and beautiful colour pallete.
Unfortunately, much like people, it is inappropriate to judge a film solely on its looks.
I went in expecting a dry, dull, but well written and performed drama. Instead I got an intrisincally woven masterclass in film making. From script to production to editing this movie is rivetting.
Heartbreaking and moving, placing the audience in the shoes of a man losing his memory, cutting through time it feels like putting together a jigsaw. Even more genius is his obsession with his watch, perhaps a little on the nose, a fantastic manifestation of losing grip on time.
At 97 minutes this doesn't outstay it's welcome and will absolutely stay with me.
