Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    ★★★★½

I have no idea what I missed here when I watched this back in March. I mean it's still not my favourite Kaufman, but on rewatch I actually really loved it; way more than I did on my first viewing.

When I first saw this I found Joel to be a bit of a caricature, and a pretty weak character overall, but now I think I finally understand why he's actually a really great protagonist. Sure he's exaggerated and doesn't…

Everywhere at the End of Time

    ★★★½

I'm a pathetic normie. This means that I know very little about experimental films; I don't know what makes a movie experimental, I've never seen one prior to this and I don't know what their cliches are, so this review might be kind of stilted. That being said, Eden Poag (letterboxd.com/bloodmountain/) did a great job making 'Everywhere at the End of Time', and it was actually pretty great.

This movies' presentation is completely different to any other that I've ever…

    Do the Right Thing

    ★★★★½

Okay yeah wow. This was so much better than I anticipated.

Do the Right Thing doesn't really follow a standard narrative structure, as the first two thirds of it could be described as a "hangout movie" where nothing of note really happens. It did take me a little while to truly get invested but after maybe twenty minutes I couldn't take my eyes off the screen, and this is mainly due to how great the characters are. There are a…

    It

    ★★★

I was at someone's house so we watched this and it was surprisingly not bad.

Despite its longish runtime, this movie never really drags on, and it has a very fast pace to it that stopped me from ever getting bored. All of the characters are fun to watch and the child acting is honestly really great from basically everyone, and it really helps that the children here actually speak like children and not middle aged screenwriters. They make a…

    Trash Humpers

Yeah, no I didn't like this.

I didn't focus on this film too much, but I was watching it intently to the point where I can attempt a rating and review. But basically, I despised Trash Humpers.

I hate films that are lazy; now I obviously don't rate movies based on how hard they were to make, as a director could definitely put a lot of work into something that turned out abysmal, but what I'm trying to say is…

    Cléo from 5 to 7

    ★★★★

I've wanted to get more into the French new wave for a while now, as the only other film I've seen from it is The 400 Blows, which I loved. Cléo from 5 to 7 is quite similar to that movie in a lot of ways, and it's almost just as great, but still not on quite the same level in my opinion.

This is a movie where the thematic elements are definitely prioritized over anything else; and although there…
