Spike_Spiegel’s review published on Letterboxd:
I don't know what I just watched.
This movie does not have a clear plot.Even PTA talked on wittertainment (which I highly recommend to any cinephiles) told that this movie is low on story and so I'm not even going to too much detail.
The Master tells the story of Freddie Quell(Joaquin Phoenix),a man who has just returned after the war and is on a journey to find himself and so he joins 'The Cause'.Its leader is Lancaster Dodd(Philip Seymour Hoffman) and his wife(Amy Adams).
Now I respect PTA.He's a great director and The Master is not your conventional movie. It has great cinematography.I'd even say probably my 2nd best after Barry Lyndon.
.Joaquin Phoenix is great and Philip Seymour Hoffman is phenomenal.I didn't see many reviewers talking about this but Amy Adams also gave a great performance.
Like a lot of PTA movies I'm going to wait until I'm a bit older to fully appreciate this so I'm not going to give it a score now.
This isn't probably a good review(not like any of mine are) its like 12 in the night here, goodbye.
