"If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing - Old Lady in Ta Lo" - Michael Scott
Holy shit did this catch me by surprise! I saw the trailer for this about a solid 15 times because it played before every movie I went to go see in theaters. I'm not gonna lie, I thought the trailer looked dumb and it looked like the movie was gonna suck, so naturally, I walked in with medium to low expectations. But my goodness, this kinda blew me away?? Everything about the film felt like a breath of fresh air, especially coming from the MCU. The visuals are a blast, a true eye-candy experience. There are a lot of new elements that Marvel seemed to experiment with and it worked out perfectly. The choreography is spot on, as the fighting sequences are among the best I've seen. I loved how beautiful some of the fight sequences in Ta Lo were, almost as if they were swift and calm dances instead of intense and mighty fights.
The music was definitely something else too. The soundtrack was real solid, but the score caught my attention immediately and did not disappoint in the slightest. It felt culturally appropriate to the setting and situation of the film as it flowed so well with the film. The film also had plenty of comedic and charming moments. I found myself gasping for air from laughing so hard. Shang-Chi turned out to be a very enjoyable experience on the big screen. I think it's mandatory to watch this film on the biggest screen you can get to. This is easily one of my favorite films of the year thus far.
