A gorgeous, confusing, quiet, and Dev Patel-roaring fantasy. Not totally sure what was going on a lot of the time but definitely a good time.

Somehow both goes too far and not far enough with it's premise, but its overall effective. A good time if you just wanna see some weird shit go down!

The plot is a good deal too busy but damn if it’s not slick and fun. Great performances all around.

For a movie that has the premise “what if the Looney Tunes played basketball with Michael Jordan to avoid slavery” this is way more tame than I remembered

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Having only seen the end of this movie before, I was pretty shocked to learn Jim’s main beef with Tracy, a character I’d been hearing negative comparisons too for years, is that she didn’t get in trouble for being the victim of statutory rape. At least Tammy’s arc ends in happy lesbians.

A lot of fun, great shots and high wire tension, but twitter led me to believe this would feature the lesbian relationship a lot more than it did.

My favorite movie, but not one I watch often at all. Reminding myself just how good it is on a technical level, how gorgeous it is to see, how remarkable each performance is, that’s always a treat.

Guillermo makes you wait a long while for more robot-kaiju fights and then he gives you more than you could imagine you wanted. It’s glorious.
