Sofa Sinema’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Fuck this franchise."
That's what I kinda felt after the last one, but glad I took another stab at it anyway. Didn't deliver on all the potential of the big city setting, but neither did Jason Takes Manhattan, which makes a cameo here.
Formula self-awareness, suspenseful and sexy set-pieces, way graphic kills and multiple genre "it" girls of the moment. Hard to argue that it didn't deliver, but Ghostface needs to hang up the phone eventually. That schtick is cobwebbed as fuck. The finale was hysterically convoluted and I definitely dig on that. Didn't miss Sidney, but she'll be back for se7en I'm sure. Instead of another tired "requel" this series needs to go for the full fandom backlash and deliver its Halloween Ends next.
