Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★½

I read Richard Brody’s review in The New Yorker before seeing this and must concur that it’s to the movie’s detriment that Bill O’Neal is made to be a more interesting character than Fred Hampton (and yet, Lakeith’s is the more resonant performance, too). Nonetheless, there are some powerful moments here and the history deserves to be remembered.
