Matt The Snapper’s review published on Letterboxd:
Yeah, it was nice to see a big musical in the theater I won't lie.
I definitely do have some problems. The digital cinematography was pretty yucky, parts of the film start to drag on towards the end and Lin-Manuel Miranda's small appearances here felt so forced and egregious.
But you can tell everyone in the film was passionate about what they were doing and there were some pretty creative dance sequences. I'm not too familiar with the musical (I think I saw my high school do it when I was in elementary school) so I have no idea how it works as an adaptation.
I'd say it was a fun time.
Also, Nina is the best character.
